PROGEO is a technology-based corporation headquartered in Großbeeren near Berlin
(Teltow-Fläming district), which develops and installs electronically controlled leak
detection systems to monitor the waterproofing or lining membranes on most
commercial and civil projects. These include flat commercial and green roofs, parking
decks, plazas and earth covered buildings, pipelines and tunnels, lagoons, landfills and
other waste disposal sites. The main feature of these systems is that they provide early
warning and location of leakage which might occur during the life of the membrane
system protecting the structure or the environment.
PROGEO was founded in 1993, and originated from an engineering company for
environmental technology. The original company had patented a process for complete
leak monitoring of disposal site linings in 1990.
Under the leadership of Andreas Rödel, the company founder and CEO, PROGEO has
become a leading supplier of leak monitoring systems not only throughout Germany,
but also internationally. PROGEO has two major product lines for civil and building
monitoring. These are:
- smartex®
(leak detection and location systems for building applications)
and
- geologger®
(leak detection and location systems for civil and environmental membranes)
PROGEO owns a number of German and European patents. In 1994 PROGEO received the
prestigious Berlin/Brandenburg Innovation Prize for its geologger® system in the
category of Special Prize for Environmental Technology. geologger® has been
installed in Germany, Spain, the Benelux and Croatia.
In October 1997 PROGEO Holding AG was founded as the parent company, and is one of
the few listed public companies from the German region of Brandenburg. PROGEO
shares are freely traded on the stock exchanges in Frankfurt/Main, Berlin-Bremen,
Stuttgart and Munich as well as via the electronic Xetra trading system.
